The past Five Days.

I've decided to make one big overview post about the past five days instead of several small ones.
Over the past five days, I've had a ton of fun! Yesterday, my parents and sister came to visit and took Nikki and me to the Fayette mall & goodwill and then to the mongolian grill, which was great. We had a class where we spoke to some Ecuadorian teachers, and that was very eye opening and interesting as well. I've done a lot of homework, and I feel like using Canvas is a lot easier to keep track of my work than it is at school, where if I forget an assignment, I dont have any way to find it easily. I'm dreading the end of the week and having to say goodbye to these people I've spent the past three weeks of my life with, because even though written down it doesnt sound like a very long time at all, but it feels like an eternity. I love the people here, the atmosphere, my friends, everything about it. I know that after I leave, I most likely wont see a bunch of these people again besides a few exceptions, and it makes me feel really......... upset, I guess. In a way, I'm kind of angry; at home, its very very hard for me to bond with people or make friends, because everyone there already knows me and has their own ideas about me. Here, nobody knew me, and I had a clean slate. Nobody had any preconceived ideas about me, so it was a lot easier to start from the beginning and make friends with them. I'm kind of angry that I finally made friends and bonded with these people and it came so easily, but now I have to go back home where I dont have many friends and can't stay with these people I know. I know that probably doesnt make much sense, and I'm probably rambling, but its been the main thing on my mind. However, I'm trying to push that out and just enjoy these last days at camp.
Until next time,
Casey Marie.

Gear Up Overview so far

So far, I'm having a ton of fun @ Gear Up camp. However, I miss my family a lot, and I miss my pets as well. I've made a  ton of friends, and I feel like this has really helped me be a more outgoing person.

Wednesday!

Today was so much fun! For communications class, Donavyn let me do his makeup in front of the class for my demonstration speech. It was a ton of fun, especially because it tested how well I could do makeup within a time limit. I'm posting a video after begging his permission to do so. I miss my cats and dog a lot. I've been thinking about them a lot lately, and its been really lonely without my cat in my room all the time.

Tuesday

Tuesday was very eventful, we went to photography class and I took a lot of dramatic photos. I took pictures of books, stairs, and shadows, and eventually got separated from my group which was a bit stressful. I'll post one of my favorite pictures I took below. See you tomorrow!

Monday was a bit more tiring than the other days, mostly because we didnt have to work on the weekday. I saw a dying bird, which was very sad. https://goo.gl/photos/GDZgDuR5o6FLcy2o6

Day Seven

Today was extremely exhausting even though it was a ton of fun. We had most of the day free, but we also had the Olympics games. It was a lot of fun, and I got to swim with my friends as well. I would love to write more, but I have to go to bed and get some rest because we have a long day tomorrow.
Until then,
Casey

Day Six!!!!!!!!!

Today was so much fun! It's day six and I'm starting to absolutely love camp. I keep thinking about the fact that I would've missed out on this opportunity if it hadn't been for my friend Nikki, who convinced me to come. I wouldnt have met half the friends I've made so far! We worked in the community garden and then we all hung out in the courtyard with a group of people from Ecuador. It was tons of fun; I recorded us doing the Cupid Shuffle and I'll put the link to the video below.
Til next time,
Casey!

Until then,

Day Three!

So here we are at day three of Gear UP college camp!! Today was by far the most tiring yet the most exciting day so far. We went to our classes (Acting, World music, and communications) and also found out what our electives were. Mine is Follow our Foods, in which we learn about agriculture and other things related to it. Tomorrow we will be going on a field trip to Winchester (sp?) Dairy, which I'm super excited about. Anyway, I'm extremely tired, so I'll head off now. Goodnight!
(these eye bags are couture, I promise)
See ya,
Casey

First official day!

So tonight marks the end of my first day at gear up college camp! I'm going to use this blog to update my stay and how everything is going while I live here for the rest of these 3 weeks. Moving day yesterday was hectic, and saying goodbye to my family was hard (my 7 year old sister started crying as she left!). Today was a bit more relaxed, and I found out that everyone is a lot more friendly and understanding than I thought they would. Anyway, I'll head off to bed now, because tomorrow will be the first official day of classes.
See you then,
Casey
